The best commission structure I ever worked under had achievable base targets and then real bonuses for going above them. You actually felt rewarded. Every other one I've had has just felt like the company was strategically making it impossible to hit your targets while still getting max value out of you.
That does seem like a great structure!

I’ve been in similar situations where the pressure to push sales just didn’t match the payoff, especially when commissions were split or unpredictable. It definitely makes you question the whole system. I feel like the best commission setups are the ones that are clear, fair, and actually reward the effort, otherwise it’s hard to stay motivated all the time. And yeah, I’ve definitely had those “not worth it today” moments too.
