I’m 24 years old and I’m already looking for an exit strategy from bedside care. I love my patients, but the physical toll of 12-hour shifts is making my knees sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies every morning. I’m looking into Clinical Research or even Medical Writing just to see a desk for once in my life. Am I weak for wanting out this early, or is the bedside truly becoming unsustainable for a 30-year career?

Hello! I’m currently a Administrative assistant now working at a major medical system in Baltimore. I’ve previously worked for 10 years as a medical assistant in a variety of specialties and primary care. Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit stuck as to my next step. Part of me want to go into management, another part is saying go get your RN, and the other is saying go into Social Work. I’m all over the place. Any ideas? And how would I be able to cross over to management?

I'm currently working for a startup that has been unable to pay us for 2ish months while they are trying to secure investor funding. They said they will back pay us and (we're working much fewer hours) and they were reaching into their personal savings for months before and never took a salary. We have patients enrolled so we agreed to help for a few weeks but not for this long. I don't want to burn bridges and I am currently interviewing elsewhere but any recommendations??
