Hi guys,
I am currently on notice period and my LWD is Sep 2, 2022. Today, I got an offer from state street mentioning my joining date as Sep 12, 2022 even though I already told HR that I would like to join from Sep 5 itself. How can I convince HR to prepone my joining date to Sep 5, 2022. I don't want to lose my one week salary guys. Pls suggest. State Street
Is 120k salary enough to enjoy DC ?

You don't owe them anything. Find something and get out of the sinking ship...
I would look for work elsewhere. Who wants to work and then wonder when they’re getting paid ? Also they say they aren’t getting paid but that’s not your problem its their business.
You can't work for free for months. I understand wanting o stick around and help but this it is irrational for them to believe people will keep working for long without pay.
That's insane. I get that you want to be supportive and understanding, but you have to live. I'd have left way before you if I was in this situation.
You can't lose back pay. Those are hours you worked and they have to pay you regardless of how hard you put your foot down.
You are not burning any bridges. You are fighting for yourself. They do not care about you.
Especially with the insane cost of living crisis!
Thanks everyone!! I absolutely agree, it's a ridiculous situation and I'm certainly looking elsewhere. I have been networking heavily over the last month or so and I am currently interviewing. Sorry for not being specific, I am looking to stop working but without another offer, I am unsure of how to put my foot down without losing my back pay. Any thoughts there?
Id go to labor board and also get a lawyer. You can get temp work.
This is the stuff of nightmares working for a startup and not getting paid. While I admire your tenacity and hopefulness it won’t put bread on the table.
You need to leave and report this to the department of labor. They will most likely refute that they owe you if things are really bad or they can file CH.11 to wipe out liabilities. If they have it listed as a accrued payroll it might be owed but you have to challenge asap.
Is this legal?
My eyes seriously went 😳. If you quit you actually will be able to collect unemployment just an FYI! I quit and collected unemployment if you need reassurance or help. When I quit, I honestly said to myself “I need to be selfish right now,” and did not think about the company. I submitted my resignation letter (where I stated laws and HR procedures the company broke) and it helped. Look into curable, they’re a cool tech x healthcare company who may be hiring.
You are not the founder so no need to sacrifice anything
Isn’t that the truth
Were they forthcoming about withholding your pay until they got some funding? If not, super shady…
They were very transparent and open, and said we aren't obligated to work during this time. The issue is the funding is just taking much longer than expected
You’re a brave soul
