I’m a first-year associate in R&D Tax Credits at a mid-market firm, but I’m realizing I’m more interested in systems, controls, and tech. I minored in Internal Audit, have a Master’s in Analytics, and I’m currently studying for the CPA (ISC section). I’m looking to pivot into IT Audit, Tech Risk, or Internal Audit—ideally through an internal transfer or at another firm. Has anyone made a similar move early in their career? Would love to hear how you did it.

Setting healthy boundaries with family is HARD. Specifically a family that suppresses emotions, gets defensive, won’t talk out conflict, tons of gaslighting.

It’s so hard to stay connected when I’m so misunderstood and disrespected constantly. It’s never huge, but a constant 3-4 out of 10 no matter the day. We never talk about anything.

I’m just so exhausted trying to make it work with them. I don’t have many friends (hey pandemic) and it’s so, so lonely.

I left Audit at a midsize firm to join KPMG erp implementation consulting about 6 months ago. So far they seem to only want to staff me on projects with a heavy focus on technical accounting and audit. Spoke to a lot of others who have left and seems like being pigeonholed or staffed on projects not related to the actual core work of the practice is the common reason. I've been on the fence about whether I should stay and hope to be staffed on better projects in the future or leave soon...
