I’m a former teacher who spent two years and $15k on a bootcamp, only to be told that my lack of industry experience makes me unhireable. I have transferable skills in leadership, communication, and organization, but recruiters only care about how many years I’ve been paid to write Python. Is the self-taught/bootcamp path officially a dead end in 2026?

yes unfortunately, tech jobs are no longer in demand (after covid they were but not now ). i'd suggest to go back to teaching and build on that

I am seeing a lot more ads for jobs and getting emails from recruiters. So I think demand is picking up. I am in teh DC area though and I am sure there is a localization to the market as well. So if you in an area with demand it should get better. If you haven't already look at using AI to generate your python quicker. That might give you an edge.

Looking for a used AWD SUV ~$20k price point, what would you recommend? Ideally 2012 or later with under 100k miles. Reliability and low lifetime maintenance costs are number 1 priority. Plan would be to run it into the ground eventually, not resell. Third row seating is a plus but not a requirement. Live in Colorado.

When does the recruiter-candidate relationship really end? Everyone says ~6 months but is that 6 months of radio silence? Or is that 6 months from when you authorized to submit apps. Do you have to reapply after 6 months? Nothing is really clear. And what’s to stop someone from just terminating the relationship and reapplying by themselves. If it ever comes up, can’t you just explain that it didn’t work out with the recruiter?

I started in big law M&A 8 months ago and I’m super miserable. I don’t love the work or the stress/anxiety that comes with deal work. I also feel like I’m not picking up on it as fast as my peers/able to juggle as many deals at once as the firm would like. I’m thinking about making a switch to in house work, preferably commercial contact work. Seems like the hours and stress would be more manageable in that type of role. Any advice or insight?

Hello, I'm hearing product management is the space to be if you want to see a considerable bump in pay. What is the path forward to reach that role? Quick question.
I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?
