Also to make things more complicated I’m a US citizen that lives outside the US so I THINK I’m limited to mostly contract roles but curious about people’s experience here as well.
I went in-house and was initially worried it would be boring, to be blunt. It’s a deeper process, a lot of cross-functional work, actually turned out to be a great fit for me. It would take care of those issues you are seeing now, although I’m not going to say they’ll never happen. I’ll leave product marketing to someone else, and also open to perspectives on in-house. A lot of variables, even within the same work.
Rising Star
I loved in-house and loved being so much closer to the tangible impact of the work, being closely tied to the brand itself. The politics and speed with which things move is a challenge no matter where you are. One of the biggest benefits of in-house I found was that you could walk down the hall and talk to the decision makers and depending if you still had external agency support, you were the one they were waiting for vs sitting on your hands for a client to give feedback
