Gonna be honest here. This doesn’t sound like the right move for you. Based on your claimed trajectory and the overarching focus on comp, it will be faster and easier for you to hit those marks if you stay put. There should be some other significant draw to ZS if you want to make the move - coming in as a C or M at ZS without a network is tough - and I’m just not hearing that in your comments
Yes. I've never heard someone approach applying for a job by looking at salary instead of what they are qualified for. Or caring to think through how they could be successful if they are applying for a stretch role.
Typical entry point is Consultant (ie post MBA) and Manager hires are generally targeted hires. You may want to try and reach out to a partner in the space you are trying to get into and they should be able to help you assess if you will qualify to come in at that level.
Don’t know what m3 looks like for reference but my guess is C or M should work. No Snr C level at the firm.
Your base expectations are aligned with manager. 1yr managers probably start at 180k base. Managers are expected to sell 3-4 million by year 3 so demonstrating that you have bd selling experience will be key to get a manager position at ZS.
M to AP is at least 3 years for home grown managers. Later hires have not min time to qualify so theoretically you can do it under 3 years. AP to P (partner) is at least 2 years. Rockstars get it at 2. Good performers get it at 3. Some get stuck at this for a bit longer 4-5. Those who don’t make it eventually leave but ZS doesn’t push people out.
Having said that there may be flexibility in the selling expectations if you are coming in for an expertise or building up an area that we don’t have
No SC. You'll need to explain your project, team, selling responsibilities as an M3 for us to understand what you might come in to at ZS.
Your salary is in line with a C who is about to become an M. Or an early M.
I am not too fussed on title all that much, focus is more on getting atleast 200k base, ideally closer to 220k. I am 18 months from Director at Lighthouse and about 5ish years from PPMD, so this might be the last logical move before it becomes a rat race to become partner. What is the timeline from C to PPMD or M to PPMD?
