It's going to be a year for me, has happened 4 times. Always when I'm about to move on, it keeps my hopes up just to bring me down even deeper.
Has happened to me twice now :)
So sorry. What happened to treating people without cruelty? Oh right. Donald Trump. Hope you find something soon
When they start the process there is a need. Lots of things can happen over the 3-4 weeks it takes to recruit and interview. The client may not have signed the scope yet which pushes the start date. Another project that was supposed to start doesn’t so there’s availability from the team.
There’s no wiggle room to start the process to hire but I’ve seen so many projected start dates shift that the best laid staffing plans get all out of whack.
Sorry it’s happened a few times. The good news is your likely to be their first call back the next time because they won’t have to do all those interviews again
are you me? this has also happened to me 3 times in four months.
If this gives you any hope, I went for a promotion, and after 2 rounds, the position was filled with an external candidate. I was so mad that I was ready to quit, but those golden handcuffs are quite strong so I’m still there.
This has happened to me three times in the last two months
Yaaaa I was once offered a full time position and while negotiating salary they asked if I could start as freelance until the powers at be approved my number. I said sure, 3 months in they said the offer was rejected and they weren’t going to hire anyone for the position but wanted me to continue freelancing….
I have seen HR and Hiring Managers start searches (and go very far into the process) before they have the position approved. This is more common than you would think. Honestly - some of these "open roles" are delusional. Budget very often does not support them or HR is in denial as to what leadership will approve. Even if hiring manager thinks there is a need for the role - it very often does not get approved.
So basically HR and talent trying to look busy not to get the axe themselves. Interesting.
I want to know which companies these are. I keep seeing the same thing.
Many times the job listings are posted based on need, solidified by a new client win. If the client win doesn’t happen, it’s all over unless they were overly impressed by a candidate.
And it's happened to me twice now after several meetings and following up with the recruiting person in the company. Ghosted. Like just tell me yes or no. It's not that hard!
