I’m considering lateraling to Dentons’ NY office as a fourth year, potentially coming in at market pay. While I know their compensation structure can be a bit of a black box, does anyone know if they typically give raises to keep lateral hires at market if they come in at market? Any insight would be appreciated!

When I onboarded they told me to expect promotion to EE III in about a year. Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
