I’m currently working a job in the finance department as a billing advisor , looking over invoices updating spreadsheets pivot tables, and heavily working out the bills and invoices to send clients. I’m loving getting experience in this type of thing and want to stay but the money is the only problem as the job isn’t that highly paid, with my experience in all these factors what could I apply for in finance that would be better paid and more worthwhile for the hours I’m working, Scotland based

You might think about looking into a higher position in accounts receivable. Or move into project accounting, which could also make possible a pivot into tech or construction. If you go for an analyst role, think about upskilling with SQL, if you aren't adept in that already.

like

I’ve been avoiding SQL my whole career, but recently been feeling I need to just learn it. Any resources you recommend?

How about looking into being an analyst? It sounds like something you might enjoy if you enjoy looking over spreadsheets and all that kind of data.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, that’s definitely something I’ve looked into but will have a deeper dive tonight !

Got a temp offer for less than a year without promise of turning into full-time. Wanted to know what ppl think about temp jobs (looks bad on resume if I don't turn full-time later within the company?) and what comp should look like (e.g. 1.2× of regular comp?).

Got another perm offer in a different industry for similar salary, but I might have to relocate and I'm concerned the work may involve translation instead of pure legal work.

There is this big bank where I'd love to work at, and after several interviews for various positions they end up promoting someone from within, even thou I understand it and think it’s good they promote their people, it left me feeling like I'm just being used to comply with the process.

If i haven’t signed anything with my firm regarding repaying them for receiving my series 7 license with them I’m assuming i owe nothing if i leave? Is there a way to find out without my manager knowing I’m looking at other firms?

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.
