I’m finishing my master's in tax while working in AP, and my goal is to eventually land at a Big 4 firm. I'm starting to worry that my current role won't really help me get there though. I’ve checked out some internships, but they mostly seem geared toward undergrads. Will job experience in a management position, even though it's in AP, help? Or should I go for an internship even if it feels like a step back?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

been in industry (small companies) for 5 years with an active CPA. Wanted to get in SEC reporting roles but almost every company requires 2-year public accounting exp. Now applying for public accounting firms entry level positions but almost all firms HR asked if I had ever worked in firms. Got rejection emails from firms all the time. Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?
