$10k? No. $30k? Maybe. Honestly your bonuses as asst controller might even cover that $10k or come close.
My impression is that there are many remote jobs out there that would give you more and be remote. Many even with unlimited pto. If you’re unhappy I would look in the private co realm rather than public.
That’s their job lol
Don’t go back unless your plan is to become Partner. You are much more attractive from an employment perspective if you have both public and private experience
Which public are you going back to? It matters as well. Unless it’s big4. I wouldn’t even consider it
How are the hours? I think you should consider that too.
Yea that’s the thing u can never tell how long you’ll work in busy season and if it’ll be worth it at the end
Are you going back to BKD or looking elsewhere?
Not back to BKD. Have another offer from another mid sized regional firm
What do you guys think is better experience and better for my future? Having more public experience but basically almost no industry experience (if I pick going back to public) or having 4.5 years of public experience and stay in private and in this case having a combination of both? Public and private experience?
I would only consider going to public in your shoes if I knew I’d stick it out till either partner or manager in PA.
Manager is a good jump to private as a controller, whereas as a SM it’s more difficult to leave since the private companies offering competitive salaries would rather pick someone who’s already in private accounting.
With the job market fluctuating and people coming/going in private accounting, this gives you opportunity to rise up, questionably faster than in PA. If I were in your shoes I would take a ride with another company who’s willing to bring you on with a higher title/salary.
I wouldn’t consider going back to PA but thats a 100% personal call
Can you please tell me why you wouldn’t consider going back to public? Please tell me your thoughts I have to make a decision today. You can private message me
Wouldn’t do public for $10k more for sure. I work for a real estate investment company too. Love my career trajectory here. The WLB is way better. And there’s a lot of money in commercial real estate, just need to prove your worth and become a core member.
Not sure if I’m the last one but it might be…. The senior assistant controller is like 70 about to retire so they said I would become like the senior assistant controller and the controller I heard is not liked by anyone… so maybe he will leave… are these facts good and motivational factors for me to stay?
Switch back to public after busy season and then keep going back to private before busy season? Rinse and repeat!
Both if I were to venture a guess
