I feel like a lot of people ARE acknowledging this already. I swear every other day I see a think piece about how much AI is going to replace us. So I don't think there's a scarcity of panic about AI at this stage.
I left PA two months ago. This week I used AI to assist in developing a xfer pricing study. Would have paid KPMG $50k. Wasn’t an extensive version but good enough for something simple they didn’t need that much so it got the job done. So yes AI is here buts its only as good as the user. Had I not had a good idea of what the study needed to cover it wouldn’t have worked.

I think people are just trying to stay grounded and not panic. Many people are concerned about this technology and its implications. And if companies decide to lay off 80% of the workforce, what are we realistically supposed to do about that? Society will collapse, and that scares people
AI will take over eventually. it’s inevitable. but what that will look like is entirely dependent upon the choices humans make in the next 10-20 years
It's ok. Even if people are let go by companies trying to replace them with AI, those companies will have to hire people to fix the mistakes that AI inevitably makes: https://futurism.com/companies-fixing-ai-replacement-mistakes
You're not wrong. Even scrolling on Tik Tok I can't tell the difference between AI videos and real videos. AI is definitely going to take over.
I always hear people say that AI will replace us but I feel like those people haven’t tried to use tax software before. Ya maybe some grunt work will get automated but I doubt AI will take over the majority of tax work.
The only way I see it happening is if AI gets to the level of sci fi movies and tv shows but even then, government still is gonna want human signatures to stand by the work.
