I’m willing to bet we all wake up with this feeling every now and then. As we move up the ranks we do less of the creative work and more leading business. It sucks when you think about it and super hard for those of us that love to make things. Good news is creative thinkers can and do pivot quickly.

If you don’t have a creative or similar outlet beyond your work, get one. Take up the bass, learn how to restore an old truck… anything to balance your day job. It really matters to make time for the creative soul that inevitably withers a bit in creative management. This is a difficult time to count on our paycheck work to satisfy; budgets are TIGHT and there’s less appetite for innovative ideas when revenue is our clients’ concern. Make the time for yourself.

I interviewed for a role with the Enterprise Risk Team at EY. I told them my salary requirements were $105 k before the interview. They said it should be ok if I'm brought in as a Senior 1. After the interview, they said they want to bring me in as a Staff2 at $84k with $3k signing bonus. I'm trying to get on a call to negotiate further...do these numbers sound right to you all?
