Sounds like you're doing fine
I think you have it wrong, it's bad out their if you're in consulting and software right now
No it’s not: maybe at intern level. But to be honest. It’s always raining if you’re an intern. It gets better exponentially though. Hang in there
I did ME (2015 grad) but consulting career and it's approx the same salary wise (though I decided to stop working hard like 5 years ago lol)
Pro
this is pretty good for ME tbh, probably similar to a lot of consulting firms though you'd get outpaced when comparing to strategy firms (though I'd bet you'll work more as well)
Work life balance at my current company is way better, I’m done pulling all nighters
Compared to what? 2009? No, much better!
When is making more than 3x the national average considered bad? 💀
I am not an ME, but I am married to one. You are doing just fine! He has 20+ YOE and is in the $150-160k range. He likely would be higher if he changed jobs more often, as staying at one company for a long time will stagnate your salary unless you are advancing quickly up the ranks and reach a Sr. Manager or Director role, where salaries tend to bump up significantly, even in the same company.
