Clopening is sooo draining, I can’t believe it’s legal to make people do that. Seriously, can we not make laws about this stuff?

If I need to schedule someone for a "Clopening" shift I:

A: Ask them if it's ok with them. (If it isn't, I will typically push my to-dos, and fill in the gap myself.)
B: Offer them an extended break.
C: Schedule someone to work a swing on their second shift and give the clopener an option to leave early if they want to.

Can you talk to your manager and explain that you don't feel comfortable working at the closing? Or is it a boss you can't say anything to?

My store I end up having to do it quite a bit I'll close on a Tuesday night get home around 11:00 get about 4 hours of sleep and then back at it again 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning unloading a truck not fun especially on not much sleep but I get it done some nights I get lucky and Tuesday night the truck will show up early and if it's there before 5:00 or at 5:00 I unload the truck that night so when I go in Wednesday morning all we got to do is start stocking the shelves

Lease ends October 31 but no news from landlord on renewing. Currently paying $500/month less than market in my area due to a sweet COVID deal. Are there any disadvantages to not reaching out to negotiate a new lease? I figure we’ll let it expire and go by month-by-month. I’d like to live here for at least another year

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? It seems like the larger chain stores would have more downtime, but I'm wondering if anyone could give some input.

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?
