Yes, I made it clear during the interview process when my wife’s due date was (many would say this is a bad idea because it makes you come across as unavailable, but those people are lame) and my manager was really understanding.
It was really tough going into a new, massive agency on a highly regulated account. I was on the account for three months before my leave started. I ended up taking two weeks and coming back because I didn’t want to lose any momentum I’d gained up to that point. I don’t recommend that.
It was my first kid, so I was simultaneously learning how to be a parent while learning a new account - very challenging to say the least and I almost walked away from the position because it was too much “new” at once. If I could go back, I’d have taken more time off to focus on my family first, develop routines and habits, and lighten the burden from my wife that was freshly postpartum (PPD is real and it’s scary)
So did your company still pay you 2 weeks paternity leave, despite you not technically qualifying for it?
Yes, thankfully
Dude, you are about to have TWO new babies, because your new Hold Co is going to make sweet love to you.
