I'm looking for my next mechanical engineering internship. From those of you who have already been there, what should I look for in a company to make sure I have a fulfilling position that will help my career progress?

Look for something that not only excites you but takes you out of your comfort zone to help develop you. I'd be trying as many different industries as possible so when you're finished training you know 100% which field you want to go into. Ask lots of questions and approach every opportunity with an open mind to get the most out of each experience.

I'd look very hard at career progression of those with 5-10yrs experience. After about 5 years, ppl tend to leave for higher pay. If you notice a lot of people have <5yrs or 10+, there is likely a quick wall for growth. If you see many people with 5-10yrs with the company, then they likely promote appropriately, take this as a good sign.
