I’m looking for some career advice:

Had my start in a mid-size and got to a point where I hated compilations and wanted to change careers. Stuck it out and got into audit which I enjoyed.
I’m now with another firm that has promised audit but has not held their promise. There are also ethical, management, and legal issues going on at my current company.
I’ve put up with this for over a year and I’ve had enough. Is it worth staying until I have my CPA or making the move now?

If fraud examination is what you are interested in, having a CPA license is helpful but not required. Not sure what you meant by writing the exam.

If you can pass the tests, being licensed even if inactive holds weight in industry.

20 plus years ago I experienced this scenario and I ended up staying. I got my CPA license and then left shortly after.

Truthfully, it’s really a judgment call. If you are miserable and it impacts your life, just leave. If you think they would place you in a position to subordinate your judgment, just leave.

However, if you aren’t miserable and they have not tried to subordinate your judgment, consider staying, but realize the longer you stay the more power they have with determining your fate.

Anyone have experience between choosing between an Industry position or making the final push (manager/SM level) for partner? How did you finally decide to go one way or the other and do you have any regrets?

Open to any thoughts and advice.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long. If I get through processing and go to the CIA for some time, do you think would I be accepted back into patent law later on?

Hi all, I’d love to hear from PR/Comms folks about the process of transitioning from agency to an in-house role. What kind of chance does a PR pro with ~7 years of solid experience across CPG and hospitality brands, including a mix of global agency work and smaller boutique firms, have at going in house? Do you typically need more experience before going in house? Would be great to hear about various experiences from those that have made the transition. Thanks!

Hi Everyone. I completed my 1 year in EY in October 2022. And in my profile, they have updated it to Senior Analyst now. But that was a progression that happens every year and I have not received the incremented salary.

Now that they are giving increments to everyone, will I receive both progression and increment or my progression will be counted as increment.

Highly confused.
