Same thing has been done in education for years now. If you work at a Title One school you can get student debt relief. Not exactly sure of the ins and outs but I’ve worked in Title one schools and many younger staff were involved w this student debt relief program. Additionally, many states have already been offering free tuition programs for teachers and ancillary staff, maybe for nurses too. These are critical positions in a community and both systems are losing staff. I think creative ideas to help makes things easier financially might just be an incentive for people to.

I'm not even sure this idea is a legitimate expansion. Rural and tribal areas likely meet the property level qualification the facility you work for just meet in order to qualify for the 10 year forgiveness. So, I don't see how this is an expansion.

This is not a Harris idea. Let me repeat, this is NOT a Harris idea. I applied for PSLF and have worked for approved non-profits for the last 23 years. I only received 5 years credit towards the 10 year service agreement because it only applies to certain types of student loans. When I consolidated my student loans after graduation, only my most recent student loan (grad school) qualified. I'll be finished paying all student debt off by the time I qualify.
