That’s where my nudes go. I don’t want to hide ANYTHING.
The “About me” page is the most-visited page aside from the home page. I use it as an elevator pitch. Only a few words at the end about a hobby.
The content doesn’t matter as much as taking the opportunity to convey your personality. Try to make it feel like having a conversation with you.
Best to start out “when I was a kid…”
I prefer when it’s written in the first person. Seems more genuine and approachable. But that’s just me. The about page helps me gauge if I’d want to spend half the day with this person—whether it is to team up or a direct report.
Just put enough personal stuff to show that you’re approachable and are someone they wouldn’t mind having a conversation with. They don’t really care about how much you love your spouse and kids or your Tuesday night yoga class. It’s to convey personality. Kept it brief. It should reinforce your “personal brand.” Stay away from talking about yourself in the 3rd person.
I don’t list hobbies or any details about my personal life. I do talk about my motivation and what I enjoy about my job.
