Take a trip to Pepe’s in New Haven, CT (the original, not the satellites) Your belly will thank you.
I think Pepe’s in Fairfield is just as good as New Haven and less crowded
Cafe Fiorello in west chester. Great. Also love my wife’s pizza especially the ones made with phyllo dough, yumm!
Write an article for a small town paper or even a blog, take a photo or the winner. Offer to share it with them for free pizza. More yumm!
It is Try it.
Emily’s in Williamsburg for Detroit-style.
Cuts and Slices in Bed-Stuy.
Joes. Always solid. Not as good as scarrs. But always a a good slice.
When are we doing a burger list.
7th street gets my vote
I’m a sucker for the little pepperoni cups at Prince Street Pizza. And although it’s a chain, Artichoke’s “Staten Island” slice is pretty awesome. Their signature artichoke slice should only be shared. A whole slice is way too much, but 1/2 is a nice treat.
Otherwise if you make an outer boro trip to Queens I can get you a list from Astoria to Hollis.
ASTORIA:
Traditional (NYC style): Rizzo’s or Sac’s
Brick oven: (1)Tufino and (2) Basil
Been meaning to hit up Macoletta (sp?) but I hear good things.
SUNNYSIDE:
Traditional: Sunnyside pizza
Brick Oven: Sole Luna
FOREST HILLS:
Brick oven: people will say Dee’s (only go there if you want to go to Eddie’s ice cream - which I DO reco). Back to pizza — better than Dee’s, go to Nick’s.
KEW GARDENS:
Traditional: Dani’s (the thing here is their “sweet sauce” — but I love the pesto slice)
HOLLIS:
Traditional: Gaby’s on Hillside
Coalfire in Chicago.
Sauce, Scarr’s, any of the “NYC Thin Crust Pizza” locations… there’s a ton of great stuff here and even out of the city.
Scarr’s in the lower east side
Ace’s in Williamsburg
Chrissy’s in the east village
Best Pizza Williamsburg
And others disagree but I really like Upside
El Hefe?
I am new to the city so I am excited to see this thread. I have not tried any of these places on this thread. I have heard that NYC has the best pizza around but have only tried one spot.
Take a Scott’s pizza tour.
