Is firm travel back up to pre covid levels?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

You need to do a ton of reading if this is the level of question you're at right now. Check the awardtravel subreddit, frequent miler, 10x travel, etc. Then do searches on engines like points yeah or roame.
With Amex you'll probably need to use ANA, but with direct transfers there, you have to book round trip, which can make it difficult.
Don't transfer points until you're ready to book. The best airline to transfer to is the one you're ready to book. Don't speculatively transfer.
But finding award availability for a business class flight from SFO to TYO is what everyone and their grandma is looking for. Unless you're either flying in the next 2 weeks or in Aug 2025, it's close to impossible. If it's not those time frames, just set some alerts and pray (will need to use a paid service for this).
Above is great advice. Do some searches on Aeroplan for star alliance award travel. It might open up some additional flexibility ESPECIALLY if you’re willing to connect once. I’d also recommend considering a short hop to LAX if there’s a point redemption from there. Happy to chat more but the advice above + Aeroplan (air Canada as transfer partner for Amex & Chase) should cover you if there’s a redemption to be made
