I’m the only person of color in my department, and the microaggressions are starting to feel like macroaggressions. From people touching my hair without asking to colleagues complimenting how articulate I am, it’s a constant minefield of discomfort. When I tried to bring it up to leadership, they told me I was misinterpreting their kindness and being too sensitive. It’s hard enough doing the job without having to constantly manage everyone else’s biases. How do you survive the daily death by a thousand cuts?
