I’m turning 40 this year and I’m starting to feel invisible in a way I didn't expect. All the recruiters reaching out to me are looking for young, hungry devs who can disrupt things, which usually just means cheap and exploitable. I have more wisdom and efficiency now than I did at 22, but I feel like I’m being aged out of the industry I helped build. Does anyone else feel like there's an expiration date for women in code?

The industry didn't age you out, but it stopped being able to trick you into working 80-hour weeks for a ping-pong table and free snacks. If recruiters aren't seeing your value, start looking at Staff-level roles in 'unsexy' industries like MedTech or GovTech where stability and deep domain expertise are actually treated like the superpowers they are.

Anyone’s con Ed bill extraordinarily high this month? Mine is ~$400. I’ve gotten mail notice from con Ed needing to install a “smart meter” and for every month missed it’s a $100 fee. But I think they’re waiving the fees. It’s so damn confusing to read if the high bill is due to missing the smart meter installation or energy usage.

I currently do planning system implementation at SC level. Quite technical stuff and less PMO. What are my future career possibilities from here onwards? Can I keep progressing in the standard ladder and keep doing implementations, or is it automatically going to end up becoming more are more sales oriented and less actual implementation work? Especially interested in the SM level and above. I’d prefer staying at Big 4 and avoid the supplier side.
