We’ve all had our fair share of these… just try and see it through as professionally as you can

Just so you don’t feel like this a career-ender, I know someone who had a campaign declared “the worst ad ever made” eventually make CCO.
(Although, that ad was before social media and it completely disappeared from the internet.)

Advertising is dead. The golden years were the 60s 80s and 2000s. Everyone remembers bud lights real men of genius. Great stories great bands. Now it’s a bunch of influencer crap with art directors giving away their skills to AI.
If in it makes you feel better, nobody really gives a shit about advertising, so just launch your turd out into the universe and let it dry up into existential nothingness.
'Existential Nothingness' is an oxymoron.

Yeah, been there. Painful to think about.
Had a CD copywriter who was so godawful that the idiot talent couldn’t even read the lines correctly because of the inhuman phrasing.
And after a billion bad takes, we ran out of time to even shoot the entire script before the production team started breaking down the set.
Cutting that mess together was fun. I still have PTSD.
Make dat muhnee. Forget the rest.
we all have done work that we will take to the grave … as long as the check clears lol

Oh, I read it too fast and thought they’d written, “I made the worst Shaq ad of all time, and that’s saying something.”

Maybe next time. Just get up, dust yourself off and move on. It’s not worth it to dwell too much on these things, especially if there wasn’t much you could control. See if there was a learning opportunity, but if it didn’t even provide that, just move on.
Now imagine that being the result of the spot you did for a Super Bowl. 😔
To this day I still don’t have it on my site.
I have had this twice in my career - both times I’ve told the CCO not to make the work. Both times they told me “it’s gonna be amazing”. Both times they were wrong and lost their jobs. But I lost out too (branded as difficult) also, no one ever looks back and says “hey, you were right!”. So sadly, you just need to suck it up and maybe go get drunk.
Every job is a chance to learn.
We do what the client says we do. Don't worry they'll bitch about it.

Advertising is an art and subjective. Business goals usually go for the lowest common denominator, so there's not usually a lot of alignment there.
100%. I'm more in product management/software design, and we have similar challenges: what's the best way to deliver the solution in a way that's scalable and widely accepted. People have different visions, interpretations of client requirements, etc.
Everyone has bad or horrible days you take a couple days for yourself, and then get back into doing what you like to do. You’re awesome and can do whatever makes you happy! Good luck Sweetie!!
Haha. Been there. All part of the biz.
