I'm a 6th year attorney in NYC. Strictly defense work; started out with the City Law Dept, did a year and a half of med mal/construction, and for past year and a half have been at a well known defense firm working on high exposure construction accident cases. Contemplating taking a couple interviews at plaintiff's firms to see if there is a good fit. Does anyone have any advice on how approach discussions about compensation and what a market level comp package would or should look like?

I applied to an experienced consultant position at Bain and just heard back. Yesterday, I received an invite to a HireVue one-way interview to complete. Today, I received an invite for a coffee chat with a consultant. I’m of course going to do both, but the emails make it seem like they are almost two separate paths/disconnected processes. How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? The sheer volume of work is exhausting and I haven’t taken a true vacation as we are a small company so if something urgent comes to my email I feel like I must respond.
