In M&A tax, I’m on 16 active deals right now please tell me that’s not normal… how to survive this?

Be thankful you’re not preparing tax returns.

Really dependent on what those deals look like and what level you are….

Small growth equity fund types you need to churn like there’s no tomorrow

Sounds normal for MM. When I have 25+ then I start feeling the stress

Sounds normal to me. When I have 50+ live deals, then I start feeling stress

like

Really starts getting to me once I cross the 75+ live deal threshold personally

That’s normal for me (in middle market)

It’s not the number it’s the duration and frequency that you need to work on them. If they’re all PE deals and not strategic, that’s a little high… but assuming they’re in different stages of kickoff ramp up ramp down and then random ass questions before closing.

I’m not sure I disagree with that, but in those long stretches why would anyone count it as an active deal?

like

What? A slower deal for me is 10 hours a week. How many hours are you billing? And why did you not tell people you are at capacity a long time ago?

Hey fishes, can someone tell me how the 80c bracket works, i know i can get exempt upto 1.5lakh under it, what i wanna know is does PF comes under it or not? For example if my yearly pf deduction is 20k and VPF is 10k so now will i still be able to show investment of 1.5lakh under 80c apart from PF and VPF or i'll be able to get exemption on only 1.2 lakh( 1.5lakh-30k= 1.2lakh)?

Thank you in advance!!

Hi Fishes,
My LWD in Wipro (my previous employer) was on 21 Aug, 2021. I was waiting to receive my outstanding due and experience certificate, as part of F&F, ever since. However, I received an email from the offboarding team today stating that my Final Settlement is on on hold due to security concerns (DLP: data leakage). How is this going to play out? And much longer will it take before my F&F process is completed and I get my outstanding due and my experience certificate? Pls advice.

Currently a staff in audit - 6 months in. Glad to be learning a lot, and have had a generally positive experience at the firm other than a few interactions, some tough busy season nights. Really been intrigued by TAS/M&A, however, and had a few convos with a senior in TAS i know at the firm. It’s closer to what I studied, but don’t know how to make the jump as it seems an internal transfer could take 6+months/senior rank and a lot of convincing. Is it better to jump firms/has anyone done this?
