Look for the company that fits your personality and work style more than who is the most prestigious

Having worked at other FAANGs I do admit that Google does offer better overall value proposition….
IMO it depends what you’re looking for- wlb, cool/interesting work, career opportunities, etc.
Yes
Likely worth it but choose what makes sense for your personal situation. I work 40hr at G while hearing friends pulling 50+ at Apple, Amazon.
Meta for promotions and work
Google for wlb
Netflix for pay
Google often don’t promote as often as meta
But my knowledge is only for like engineering
I work at G in DC, a non-Google hub city and the cache is very strong because it’s unique to be at G. Amazon and Microsoft have pretty decent presence so there’s less of a cool factor. I’m speaking in terms of the value for future job prospects vs social cache
I'm wondering why Google doesn't give feedback for not being moved forward in the interview process? Especially when the interviewer was a jerk? Suspect it may have been just a personal whim. Thoughts?
Google has 140,000 employees approx at present . They were at 114K in 2019 , 89K in 2018, and so on . Point is,Google is hiring by truckloads. They have tried to stick with a ‘small growing company’ hiring process and scale it out to several 1000s . Don’t expect feedbacks wherever mass recruitment is in play .
The Google brand isn't worth a pay cut if the alternative if an equal job at another faang. Also, 30-40k out of how much TC? Moving to Google for wlb makes sense, so if you can work 35 h/week at Google vs 55 elsewhere, and 30-40k is a 10% pay cut, then go for it.

I got an offer to leave Google for $50k more - but when accounting for the hours worked....my effective pay per hour at the new place would have gone down almost 33%
No dude
