Hello. I worked for Intercon for 8 months and had 5 years of prior security and am still in security elsewhere.
I would strongly advise AGAINST Intercon Security in DC. I moved from the midwest to the DC for Intercon. The management is a disaster. It is impossible to get the correct feedback or answers from management or HR. You will swim for help and then drown because it will never be given.
This is a company where they send you out on your own and see if you succeed. It is a very militaristic environment where if you do one thing wrong (like have one wrinkle in your shirt) you will be sent home without pay.
You are NOT guaranteed 40 hours or anything close, even though they tell you that you will. My first 2 months at Intercon I couldn't get above 29 hours and my health insurance got cut off. Seasoned and amazing officers (who I am still friends with) are leaving rapidly to go elsewhere right now due to the conditions, probably prompting more hiring.
This job is 100% on your feet with minimal breaks. There are ZERO sitting posts. Your feet WILL BURN for months and you cannot change your shoes to anything comfortable. It has to be the standard.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I was happy to be moved out to the East Coast but Intercon's conditions made me physically sick and it was not worth it AT ALL.
I’ve worked there for many years… it’s not hard but it’s not super easy either. Your gonna have to be in decent shape
I used to work there. PRT is strictly enforced, management is trash. Hours suck, always expect to stay 12 hours even if you’re coming in for 4 hours. Most post are standing post so expect to be on your feet hours on end with the possibility that you might not get a break. I recommend to stick it out for your clearance than bounce asap
