Yeah the corporate world is pretty unforgiving for people who display negative emotions. They assume if you get nervous during an interview you’re incompetent or something idk
All things being equal, if there was another candidate who was composed and calm, then yea they'd probably go with that candidate. Interviewing is a skill that youll get better at with practice and preparation.
Imo, it depends on the interviewer. If someone is super nervous with me but does well with their other interviewers then I generally don’t hold their interview with me against them. Unless I notice red flags during the interview, I let the majority rule. We all get nervous so if you have the resume for the position and do well with everyone else then I’m not going to stand in that candidate’s way because of their nerves with me. I also try really hard to put interview candidates at ease if I notice nerves so that they can hopefully relax and do better. Hopefully your interviewer will also learn from the experience.
