Hi Fishes,
I Will be Joining PWC AC B as SA2 on Sept 2,2022. Just want to know about Appraisal cycle. Is it Mid Year or Annual appraisal process. Also, will I be eligible for next appraisal cycle ? Tried asking the same Question to HR, but didn't get a proper response. She just mentioned as per company policy.

Salary obviously. Designation is firm specific. Remember partner in Zomato and partner in Deloitte is different.

I would go for higher salary with lower designation
I would say both..salary is something which will pay our bills and provide us life we desire and designation is something which will helps us to grow in ladder which results in pay hike. Let me give an example.. if you have exp of 6 yrs and Deloitte gives you offer of 18 lac with Consultant designation..should you accept it without negotiation on designation? NO.. for 6 yrs exp Deloitte can give designation of Sr Con as well..shouldn't you join as Sr Con? What happens if you join as Con?.. it will take 2 yrs to become Sr Con..so your next progression is slowed by 2 yrs..for Con they will have a specific compensation bracket and 18 is already on higher side so you get low increment next year..IMO if you are switching to firm for long term then designation is also imp else salary only
Agree, if the someone is looking for 2-3 years in the company, it is best to got for better salary. however, if u view this company for more than 5 years, it is best to go for designation.
Typically salary is an intrinsic factor (how you perceive yourself) whereas designation is an extrinsic factor (how others perceive you) .. choose the one that drives you! I can think of at least 3 people in my circle who specifically opted for individual contributor role over manager roles.. all of them with 12+yrs of experience!
Pro
Personally - none. Mental well-being should be considered on the top. If that’s taken care of, both designation and salary will follow.
Pro
Salary because designation can change from company to company
