Why would Atlanta build an airport that far outside of Atlanta for people who don’t want to be part of our city or pay taxes? Go pay taxes and build your own airport and leave us out of it.
Then, have fun with your connecting flights to CLT, DFW, ATL, and ORD on Frontier or whoever else you can con into paying for slots there.
Ooooooor, we invest in better public transit and have a few express MARTA trains each day from the burbs to the airport.
To D1’s point. Folks in Alpharetta/North Fulton don’t want mass transit coming up there. They want to keep out the “deplorables” from their neighborhood. So again to D1’s point, they should figure it out & leave the rest of us out of it. Their decision, their choice, we shouldn’t pay the consequences for it.
I don’t think yall understand how bad a second airport here would be. Look at how awful delays are in New York. We are the busiest airport in the US I believe, that would slow things down considerably. If you have any pilot friends please ask them about it.
Depends on where they put the airport. If it was outside KATL class bravo maybe but anything with share class bravo airspace (like New York) is going to be ridiculous
Hartsfield Jackson and Delta have been deliberately kneecapping any attempts at a second airport for years. The city owns land in paulding county and near dawsonville and hasn’t dont anything with it for decades. A second airport will never happen
Look how far out Atlanta class b airspace extends. Any class b airport (what most major airlines operate in and out of while connection/regional carriers operate out of both class b and class c airports). A
You’d have to build waaaaay out in order to allow for proper traffic separation unless you built airports with shared airspace similar to NYC (not sure how that would work given ATL is busier)
If you don't want to "drive through the city" then you can go north to Chattanooga, East to Augusta or Savannah or West to Birmingham to other airports or else just find a way to take transit through ATL. At least North Fulton pays Fulton County taxes and have MARTA access. Those in Gwinnett, Cobb, Cherokee, etc. do not have those options and I believe only Cobb has limited connection points to MARTA service directly. Other option is private flights as there are many small/private hopper flights (nearly one regional "private" airport in each county best I remember)
I did my flight training out of GVL and have flown in to most ATL area public airports (PDK, LZU, RYY). taking off right behind a Citation or Gulf Stream is fun :) definitely not the same price as flying a carrier like Delta or United lol. A private jet costs thousands per flight hour to charter
Go check out New York City area class bravo airspace (each airport LGA, EWR, JFK has a series of restrictions that get more intense as you get closer to the airport. There are a few general aviation airports as well out on Long Island sound as well as White plains which is a class c.
Please don’t add something like this to Atlanta. Between Atlanta and PDK which is class delta among others like Charlie Brown, Cobb McCollum, and dobbins we are FULL!
ATL class bravo (runways aligned almost perfectly horizontal to this screenshot so you’ll either have aircraft landing and taking off west to east or vice versa)
These comments - are y’all still mad about the election outcome 😂
Nah the pilot in me just doesn’t want to have another super congested airspace to deal with 😂
Agree, screw the OTP. They’re trash.
