So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. His reason was that I somehow betrayed his trust as he had promoted me just last year (after keeping the position open for 4 months and letting me take additional work load after the previous SM left!). Does this make any sense? I mean where does this sense of entitlement or ownership over the employees come from? No wonder the company in question is kind of facing a literal exodus!

Looking to meet new folks in NJ area. Preferring couples (without children), who are chill, likes playing board games, enjoy outdoorsy activities and are vaccinated. We are in our early 30s and are LGBTQIA+ friendly.

I'm not someone who needs to hear "good job" all the time, but we just got a huge deal closed that I worked really hard on and had a lot of overtime. Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

For those of you who left the Midwest for a FAANG company like Apple… was the move to CA worth it? Have an opportunity and it’s just really difficult wrapping my head around the cost and standard of living, being far from friends and family, etc.

What are the pros and cons for working at your consulting firm? (salary, benefits, culture, growth opportunities, international projects , etc). Trying to figure out where I might want to go next.

4YOE @Amazon & trying to lateral to a similar role @FAANG. Have my undergrad GPA (3.8/4) on resume from top 15 school but colleague says to take it off (looks silly). If it’s a good school & high GPA, why ever take it off your resume? Even if 10 YOE...can’t hurt?
