I’m in NJ too. BT is notorious on how they allocate. Depending on where you live, they may not send a lot in that area or it’s hard to find and expensive - unfortunately NJ tends to be in that latter bucket. There are certain periods when they share a good amount, but more often than not in Nj they don’t send much. There are other places in US or international that always have most BT products and at MSRP, but NJ is not one of those places.
In short, there isn’t a shortage but rather a limited distribution that is region specific. That limited distribution is also partly intentional bc their products have gained popularity in the last 5 years (overhyped IMO but it’s there nonetheless)

It’s a part of the BT distillery hype train, on the shelf more often than not in my area.
I own a store in Upstate NY: BT has recently become an allocated item similar to Eagle Rare, Blanton's, etc.
Though you can usually find at least a few bottles on the shelves in stores around the area I'm in
I live in Ky. I go to the distillery often. They are just really good at allocating and making artificial demand. Regular Buffalo Trace seems to depend on where you are located. Some places it’s on all the shelves, others it’s nowhere. Which is fine, it’s a very mid tier bourbon. Not bad for the $30 MSRP but plenty better if you can’t find it.
Thank you! Appreciate the recommendations!

Haven’t had any issues finding regular BT 🤷♂️
I’m in NJ (north) and can find BT at the two or three places I requemar
No BT is not experiencing a shortage, the secondary market really drives the prices up. I live in Kentucky about 30 minutes from Buffalo Trace and most bottles are super hard to find or marked up at non-big box stores in KY. Big box stores do lotteries and you can sometimes get lucky. Depending on the state you are in will dictate whether you can get them at MSRP or not. But most of the time, they are held back by employees or owners for patrons or themselves. You could get the delivery list for the vendor that distributes BT products and show up when there is a delivery. Most of the time though most bourbon enthusiasts will have the inside track.
C1 knowing how much a specific store receives will depend on your relationship with them. My store tells me the exact amount that we get, I.e we got 24 bottles from the Van Winkle line this year but no 20 or 23 year. Which was less than the year prior. Not sure the exact amount of BTAC but we got 2 bottles of ER17 and 1 WLW. Each months BT delivery brings 6-10 cases of BT and varying amounts of EHT SmB, blantons, ER, ect. Typically stores don’t want you to know how much they are receiving, at least from my experience.
You used to be able to get a list from BT showing where all the BTAC in a city went. But they have since stopped sharing that. I have a distribution list from 2017, which was the last year I heard that they shared. You can ask them for a specific blantons dump date and they will tell you where it was distributed
