Yes it's a red flag if a job has been not filled in 5 months something is wrong either they're looking for a particular type of people like in culture or they looking for certain type of man or a certain type of woman to fulfill that position or they don't live up to what they're saying that people are not staying and it's not been filled are you really hiring
It probably means that the manager is a narcissistic sociopath that no one is good enough to do it their way. Don't take it personally.
Honestly, if they haven’t reached back out in a month, I would unfortunately assume you didn’t get the job. And my assumption would be - especially since they’re ghosting - things are a hot mess or the manager absolutely can’t handle confrontation of any kind, OR, it’s a ghost job and not about you,
When i worked at my last job, the entire 3 years I was there there was a job position posted for general manager (at every location in our district) and at no time were they hiring a GM for any location. Apparently we were required to keep job listings posted and per HR had to always respond about hiring with "we are always accepting applications, youre more than welcome to apply" whether we were actively hiring or not. As of this comment, the company still had GM positions posted.
Its crazy! I keep getting job recs from Glassdoor to apply for the company's GM positions at 5 different locations and I know personally they are not currently hiring, and in the entire 3 years I worked there only hired one GM. I quit as I was being promoted into my own store so they had to hire one bc thats stores GM got a DM promotion. I always felt like I was giving false hope and letting people down, one of my least favorite parts of the job especially knowing the town I was in jobs were limited and it was considered a "low-income" type town, lots of people were struggling financially (burger king managers were making $9.50/10/hr- i didnt work there but we hired a manager from BK making $3 more an hr as a cook), not many places in town to work, and not the type of town willing to bring in new business for all around growth for whatever reason. Super stagnant, so glad I left the job & the town.
