Is it common for a firm to ask associates to sign an agreement for an incentive compensation plan? Firm sells flat fee programs to clients and wants to give associates a (small) percentage of the flat fee if they initiate the sale. Terms are mostly standard. There’s a repayment term if the client changes their mind and the firm has to refund them which gives me a little pause.. plus the formality of a signed agreement..?

I’ve always wondered how are lawyers chosen to be recognized in magazines or online publications as “Best Lawyers”/“Rising Stars”? I’ve always assumed it’s a circle jerk of some sorts for Big Firms nominating each other, but I have no idea.

What do you do about computer problems? It just took me 24 minutes to send a .1 email due to my computer constantly freezing. Is it worth entering that time into non-billable? Or do I just stop whining and work longer to make it up?
