It more so depends on what your skills are and your mastery level when it comes to government jobs (at least that’s what I’ve noticed while working for the government). For example, if you’re working in the financial part of transportation, finance is your transferable skill. In our department (I work in housing) we have several layers from inspectors and engagement to compliance and development. Hope that makes sense.
