Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Depends, I applied for a role that said please don’t dm the recruiter. The dm only works honestly when they reach out. Everyone, else is ignored. One recruiter told me they got 60 DMs. Follow the instructions on the job description that’s the best way.
I've gotten interviews and chats by DMing. But I typically find hiring managers are a better route for this. A recruiter is just a go-between, but I do think DMing makes it more likely your resume is considered. Keep your note succinct and focus on your offer/how you add value. Most job descriptions don't include directions, so put yourself out there and be part of the few that stand out. Closed mouths don't get fed. If someone says don't contact them after putting their info up, that's probably not the best sign.
Absolutely! Just make it clear WHY you’re messaging them - what’s the point?
