Is it normal for a recruiter to ask for a salary range before a phone screen? We've only sent two emails (her asking if I'm open, me saying yes), and now she wants a number. I get not wanting to waste time, but I'm uncomfortable sharing this before even speaking to a human. Should I just answer, or is there a polite way to wait until the interview? How would you respond to this request?

Got offered 68k after 2 years as a contractor (62.5k) doing project management/business admin in a tech department at a Fortune 500 bank. I have an A.S degree and working on my bachelor’s/masters may 2024. I negotiated to 84k NYC. I have seen interns get offered 38 per hour (79k) for internship positions with a similar role.

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?
