I read a contract from San Diego that had some very interesting language for Special Educators. Thinking about sending it to the Union to see.

I need advice. A student at my worksite came to school with a gun. He’s a SPED kid, and administration did not inform anyone. I had to help the teacher and instructional aide deal with the incident. I told the AP that we needed to do more. I was ignored. I fear for the safety of teachers and students. What can I do, when union reps got involved and administrators did nothing.

So the public unions have tried to divert funds for new students, wishing to attend private schools in Calif... any other states preventing school choice?

My partner got a City of Toronto offer. Salary band is 104-121k. HR asked for his expectations and he said 115k. HR came back with a 106k offer stating nobody on the team makes that much so they cant offer it. Also said she is unsure if there is any wiggle room if any at all. I’ve looked at everyone on the team with the same titles salary on the sunshine list and the lowest I see is 121k. I assume there is an OT component of some sort but also can’t confirm. I have worked in municipal government for almost 17 years. I love what I do as an Inspector, but the environment is toxic, and administration horrible. I have an opportunity to go into the private sector side, as well a second interview for another municipality doing same job. Private sector job will pay 35,000 more but will be 3 hrs away my husband is in law enforcement and can’t leave due to his position.
