So why don’t you change subjects
Not weird at all. But keep in mind that work is a commonality of everyone who goes to a happy hour, makes for easy conversation. My advice is to bring other topics into the convo.
Be the change you want to see in the world
I've seen work happy hours set up with the rule that no shop talk is allowed, and people who bring up work have to buy a round.
An idea if you're organizing, or perhaps you could propose.
I just don’t care about them anymore because I value time with my family more. I see my coworkers everyday and have lunch or dinners with those I’m close with. I don’t need those happy hours, but sadly, if you want a promotion… 🥲

When you can’t talk politics, religion, or sexual affiliations/kinks, you get kinda limited.

Which oddly enough are also my only joys in life

Don’t go
Not weird at all.
My hangup when getting into consulting (from industry) was how folks so freely discussed personal lives.
Kinda made sense, since these folks were leaving their personal friends/fam for four days per week to spend with colleagues. And this lasted for years or even decades for some folks.
But took me a while to warm up to people enough to start talking about my personal take on things, relationship stuff (very surface level, but still), etc.
My advice is give it time, keep getting reps, rapport will build at whichever pace makes sense for you, but acknowledge that in consulting, it’s generally advantageous to make the best of the time you spend away from home by bonding with your fellow road warriors
You are not alone.
