Husband is a multi sport coach and gone a lot in season, I work in corp banking. Thinking about getting a travel trailer since I camp alone with the kids a lot in the summer, spring and fall for quick weekends. Does anybody do this where you take, maybe 1 day, to create multiple 3 day weekends scattered throughout the year for little trips instead of taking vaca in longer stints? Do you feel more refreshed with lots of smaller trips, or more with a few long trips? Kids are 1 & 3.

They are a LOT energy wise and I’m always exhausted, sometimes more short and annoyed with them than I want to be because of work. I really want to find a way to dedicate more quality time with them and not be so stressed.

Do both. Take some family trips and also take some trips with just your spouse without the kids at an adult only place.

Taking a week off can be stressful as you race in the weeks before you leave to get a ton done; then you’re still checking work while you’re out; then you get back and you’re supposed to be relaxed but are now buried at work and need to work overtime for 2-3 weeks just to get back to normal.

Far better to just take some Fridays off (which are usually only 1/2 to 3/4 days at best)

I do that. I usually piggyback my vacation time with a holiday so I get a four day weekend.

I am doing that for Veterans Day this year for a flight, although for my job we have to really be careful about how many people are off together, so I want to be mindful of not taking all of them. I may choose one or two to do this though.

We do take family vacation over Christmas when there’s no sports, so I’m given priority on that week because my husband is a teacher/coach so it’s the only option for us. The rest of the year is mostly just me and the kids for the shorter trips. 4 weeks of vaca to work with, so trying to spread it out a little.

Moved to Canada on a work permit but recently got my PR approved. It’s been a 4 month wait to get the actual PR card and I have a family trip coming up soon. Can I still travel and get back into the country with no issues given that I still have a work visa (W1) on my passport? Not sure if my change of status nulls my current visa

This means my GC is approved right?! Sounds like I’ll receive approval notice soon, but when does the actual GC come through? Also, any guidance on when might my parents be able to travel here? (they are in UK and subject to travel ban, exempt for citizens and GC holders).

Filed I-140 and I-485 in Dec 2019, biometrics in Feb 2020, RFE in Nov 2020, approved March 2021 (15 mos). Nebraska SC. EB-1C from UK.

For all the business/data analysts out there, do you ever feel like your job is draining you? Like it doesn't really make a difference, the work is really ambiguous or you never feel like you're doing a good enough job? I don't know if it would be different at another company, but I seriously don't understand why so many people are trying to break into this field. Maybe it just isn't for me.

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.
