Is it worth it to teach ESL students terms like nouns and verbs when they need to learn to speak for communication and just gain vocabulary?

It is possible to teach students basic grammar and communication skills through content. My text, Inside, uses topics such as food, careers, and numbers to engage students in both grammar lessons and it helps them build beginner communication skills.

It's called "Inside"? I will look for it. I think it's more valuable and gets more buy-in from students if they immediately see the purpose. I immediately see their eyes glaze over if I use a grammar-only approach.

Yes, if students are literate in 1st language, then it will help them understand the structure of English. Plus it will reinforce vocabulary.
