Admin is thinking of leveling the 9 - 12 th grade using the ELPA21 scores from a year ago to place students in Levels 1, 2, and 3. What are your experiences with this? Your thoughts?

Admin wants to level our high schoolers into ELD 1, 2, and 3, which would mean mixing up freshmen and seniors...our staff is against it, but they are reacting to ELPA scores which, according to those who don't understand the strands, look abyssmal. I need some moral support here..,.,

Is it worth it to teach ESL students terms like nouns and verbs when they need to learn to speak for communication and just gain vocabulary?

We have ESL students who speak languages like Mongolian that no one in our school speaks and can translate. How do I communicate with parents? How do I get them to feel more welcome/comfortable?
