I've apologized more for things I can't control than for anything I've actually done wrong today. "Sorry for the wait, we're short-staffed" became my new catchphrase. Do you all find yourselves apologizing too much?

Canadian here, so I understand very well. A manager told me a long time ago not to apologize which could validate the patient that something was done to them and give them permission to get angry. Instead, thank them, making them feel like they are appreciated. "Sorry we are late" becomes "thank you for your patience."

Sounds very much like an ED nurse. I feel you from here. Hopefully patients will get to know that staff ain't the problem.
You can only do as much as you can and allowed to. Most importantly, after your shift, go home with a clean slate of conscience knowing you have done your part.
Wishing you more strength to finishing your shift safely with satisfied patients.

You shouldn’t say sorry for things that are not your fault. You can still be empathic, understanding, but stop apologizing for things you didn’t get to have a choice in.

I know it’s hard to do but focus on what went well on your shift/day. Stuff like this shouldn’t take space in your mind. We all have days that are not as good as others.

I used to be like this, but I don’t know if it’s with me turning 40 and I just could care less nowadays I don’t know but I just do not do that anymore. You come to a point in life.

Yeah, I pretty much just go on auto pilot when stuff goes wrong like this. Just say my insincere sorry and try to think about it.

Yes I apologize and refer them them to upper management.

I feel like I can’t redeem my career. I’ve been out of paying work since I graduated. My bar was delayed due to a medical problem and since then I’ve only been able to find volunteering. I’ve been working for free for 2 years now. My network is tapped, my mentors are confused why I can’t find anything, my law school’s career services actually gave up on me, I don’t have the money to move to a new place, I have no other support and I can’t even go back to retail because nobody’s hiring out here.

So- we run Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) for our clients display ads in a feed and corresponding google sheet via Google DoubleClick. My q is- does anyone know what systems out there allow for creating a template that will automatically pull a product image from say Target.com and automatically building the ad & copy without manually making 1000 ads via row for row in the google sheet? I know this is possible but curious if Sizmek or Flashtalking are more common in this type of creative development.

I saw some sales managers discussing hiring strategies, especially for entry level roles (e.g. SDR, BDR).

One strategy that came up was having the applicant do 90 minutes of cold calling into real prospects with the hiring manager coaching.

What do you think of this approach? Would be curious to hear from both hiring manager perspectives and from candidate perspectives.

Hi Fishes,

I have given my interview in HCL and cleared 1 TP, 1 hcl manager & Client TP and Client Manager rounds .
In initial screening HR told the generic statement of 30-40% and I have given my ask as 50% minimum. After clearing the rounds I heard from the project team that Client has given great feedback and wanted to take me in .
What is the % I can ask in HR Discussion and will they reject in HR if I ask more now .
I have 9.5 years total experience and role is Storage Architect.
Thanks

Any advice on how to tastefully tell your manager that you no longer want to be a charge nurse anymore? For us being in charge is having full assignment 3p-7p & being responsible for assigning pts , communicating w/ supervisor about various issues, making the assignment for next shift, and a mini report about each pt for the next charge. On the weekends, same responsibilities but 7a-7p. We don't get any additional pay for being in charge and I'm sick of the added responsibility and stress of it.
