I promise it’s not you — it’s the market. It’s absolute crap. Unless you’re one of the first few to apply, which is impossible, you’re hundreds if not thousands behind. LinkedIn Premium shows you that. Someone above is right. You have to network your butt off. I’ve been looking since January. I’ve asked friends to introduce me via email to chums in their network and then asked for video chats w them. Then give them your spiel but don’t ask for a job - but ask them for introductions to folks they think could help. And keep doing it until the dam brakes. It is heartbreaking and it is excruciating and all of the painful and frustrating things. But I promise it will be much more fruitful than blindly applying. Also do some cold calling connecting on LinkedIn- and ask for a quick video chat (or call) that way. You say you don’t know anybody- then filter by school or hometown or something that can start a conversation that’s worth their time. This is working smarter and not harder. And trust me I know it’s still really hard. But.. you can do it and it will be worth it. Good luck.
Also gummies and/or bourbon help. In moderation of course. Please network responsibly.

The last time I got a job by applying in a website was in 2007. Literally every job I’ve gotten since then, it’s been because a recruiter reached out or because someone recommended me or through networking somehow.
I still apply to things once in a while, but honestly I don’t know why I do. It has never worked. I’ve gotten an interview here and there though.
Only apply when you have someone that can personally pass your resume to someone at the company. And if you don’t, see if you know someone who knows someone there. That’s the type of job market this is - just applying online doesn’t even guarantee a human will look at it.
True but I don’t know anyone and I’m trying to connect with more people on LinkedIn but it’s hard too.
I applied for a job June 30th and got an email to interview two days ago, been without a job since March. Keep in mind things are going to be slower during the summer months. Try to keep yourself occupied with hobbies and networking events where you are.
The job search is a very slow process but knowing that there are things happening in the bg that I simply won’t know about helps with the mentals.
I used to (and still do tbh) think networking is purely transactional but we all need each other at the end of the day. It also helped me realize that it was the people who I wasn’t thinking about who were thinking about me.
I just stumbled upon this. Seems too good to be true. Especially in the ad world. User beware.

It’s not you OP. This past April I finally got a response to an application I submitted 5 months earlier.
Thankfully I was employed so replied to the brand recruiter’s request for an interview with the following:
5 months? Seriously? 🤦🏻♂️🤣
We are all in the same boat. Maybe its time you look at jobs you would rather no do and just accept one of them for a while. Maybe try retail or fast food, I know they arent the best but they are something at least
Would love to refer you to our company if you don’t mind?

Are you sure your email is right on your resume?
Yes, very sure. I even include my LinkedIn and portfolio. I don’t know, I guess I’m just not the one but it sure is a disappointment.
