Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

What's most important is to make sure, during the interview process, that you learn about the full range of benefits offered. You don't want to be lured by a higher salary and discover that you've taken in a hit in benefits. Things like a 401(k) match should be taken into account, along with health coverage and PTO. When it comes to negotiating, a lot of organizations have standardized benefits so there's often not a lot of flexibility there. I've known people to negotiate for more PTO, but in some cases that's set to a formula and there's no flexibility there.
you can ask. just ask during the negotiation process to see what is possible - same way that would you negotiate salary or anything else. just need a good justification and a clear ask!
I havent had any luck with this personally. Very curious to see if others have.
