Acura's interiors are always 5 years out+ of date compared to "peer" brands.
Performance is also subpar, especially compared to comparable benz/bmw
The reality is if you want a lush luxury car you're better off in a merc/genesis/lexus and if you want a fast car you're better off in something German.
I’m aware. It’s the same company lol. Still a Hyundai
I’ve had two. Love them, but can’t shake the “it’s just a fancy Honda” mentality. Why buy the RDX when I can buy a CRV? It’s the same thing. I feel similarly about Lexus / Toyota. MB and BMW are at least bespoke. Audi is, well….a nice VW.
Good luck out there soldier 🫡
Acura is considered entry level luxury. Something you get that’s a bit nicer than normal, but a gateway to nicer brands. Nothing particularly wrong with them, but nothing that stands out as being remarkable.
Similar “entry level luxury” would be like Buick, Volvo, Infiniti, etc.
The real world? Volvo is most definitely entry luxury. They have nothing that competes with the other brands in terms of performance, quality of materials or amenities. They have decent tech and safety, but even the latter isn’t as big of a margin as it used to be.
If you want a “nicer Volvo” you go Polestar, which is now a separate brand.
I’m an Acura fanboy. Had an RSX Type-S back in the day and am looking at the Integra Type-S as my next purchase. With that said, I’ll also acknowledge that Acura is premium, not luxury. Currently have a BMW and Mercedes and they’re definitely a tier above in terms of build quality, refinement, and power. I think Acura is overpriced now and the value just isn’t there anymore when you get can a fully loaded Honda for cheaper. The only reason I’m looking at the Integra Type-S is because it’s manual (and the Civic Type-R is too harsh as a daily) and I want to get one before they stop making them; otherwise I do believe there are better options at that price point.
Hoity toity car people will just say it's a dressed up Honda. Which is technically true, but in general car people look down on those types of cars. I get similar hate for owning a Cadillac which is just a dressed up (but way better) Chevy. I think it probably has to do with the sharing of parts/chassis with "lesser" cars, as opposed to BMW, Mercedes, etc. which are their own brands
Love my Acura. Super understated luxury and great features, plus reliability which is higher than the German cars.
Acura does deliver in terms of quality and performance, but I think people just gravitate towards the more well-known European names. They're all about the luxury image and have a strong presence in pop culture, so people talk about them more.
My husband hates my American made Acura MDX. Lol. He said it has too many problems for a supposed to be luxury car.
I like how the car looks, but he’s the car guy so he judged it beyond the looks. I still like it though.
Actually is a high priced Honda brand but dependable car people think European cars are better not really they are usually less reliable and more expensive to fix
“Better” depends on what you want out of the car. If you just want reliability and that’s all that matters you go Toyota and call it a day.
European cars definitely aren’t as reliable, but are typically better in fit/finish, materials, driving experience, sometimes tech, etc.
