USI Insurance brokerage and consulting - thoughts? A recruiter reached out to me via linked in and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this company. They seem to have decent reviews on Glassdoor but I was hoping to get more insight into workload and comp. Thanks in advance! USI

That's an interesting question. I've heard that companies are concerned about meeting people they hire for remote jobs just to make sure they're a real person. Which seems weird, but that's the AI era for you. I suppose if I wanted a job I'd show up and establish my existence, though traveling a long distance for an interview might not make a lot of sense.

I traveled once for an interview, before Zoom and Teams were around and the alternative was phone. When they wanted me back for a second interview I asked them to pay for my hotel room (I lived four hours away.) They did, and I got the job, plus moving expenses, which was rare for my role.
I feel that I generally perform better in in-person interviews, and I’m very comfortable with them. While it may seem a bit unnecessary for a fully remote role, I would still be happy to do so.

Me too. I'm a good interviewer so either way is fine with me, but you get the benefit of more body language in person.
